Sadly, this case never made it into Strange & Mysterious Beasts as I never got certain expected confirmation -after all, my field are felids, canids and wolverine. But this is how the story ran -and still does with the help of sensationalist journalists looking to continue boosting ratings and that odd mixture of cryptozoologist-ufologist.

Explorer claims 'alien claw' and 'skull' found in Peru tunnelsYahoo News 8th
Self-proclaimed paranormal researchers say they have proof of an "alien claw" after discovering a three-fingered bone structure in tunnels in Peru.
The Institute Inkari-Cusco, a group of "paranormal enthusiasts", said they also discovered a skull close to where they allegedly spotted the "hand".
The claims have not yet to be verified, but the researchers said they found the bones while searching caves and tunnels across Cusco in January 2016.
French researcher and explorer, Thierry Jamin, released the findings on his Facebook page on November 27.
He said, researcher Dr Edson Salazar Vivanco used x-rays and concluded that the "mummified hand" was 33 cm long, has three fingers, metallic implants.
"According to some estimates of physicians, archaeologists and anthropologists, this hand belonged to an individual whose size was maybe between 2.7m to 3m tall," Dr Vivanco said, according to aPeruvian blog.
Dr Vivanco claimed the "claw" and "skull" were genuine biological objects with real bone and skin tissues and further testing was underway.
The researchers will conduct further radiocarbon and DNA testing of the mysterious specimens in the US in early in 2017.

Now to me this is all pure bovine excretia. More fantasy by persons looking to make money or become celebrities. The only reason I actually checked the story in the first place was because I was looking at images relating to South American mammals that might be mistakenly identified as "mystery hominids" (long story). There was the photograph and so I checked out the story.
I have no doubt what-so-ever that these are the remains of nothing more than a Three-toed sloth (Bradypus tridactylus). Buried away in a cave for a very long time with dirt and grime building up on the skull -I note that these persons have not revealed the skeletons of these 'aliens' only the "hands" and head because they look strange and so are exploitable.
Here -a three-toed sloth skull and skeleton (the latter from the Cambridge University Museum of Zoology):
Liars, frauds and cheats always need to be exposed.
