To Make This Clear....

This has to be my final posting on the AOP blog for..I have no idea how long. How long I have the internet or even a place to live is vague at best.  Not much longer.  With 114,363 views I had thought the blog was being viewed by people with a genuine curiousity for the strange and weird.  So some are bound to buy my books with over 40 years of research in, right?

Wrong.

While the frauds and fakers sell their books to gullible people it seems books looking at phenomena truthfully do not sell at all. I've offered glimpse after glimpse into what can be found in my books -that content on this blog is being removed.

I've been honest and stated  life can't go on without money, vulgar as that might seem.  Now it has hit. No more posts after today and until I can find some way of earning decent money that is how it has to be.

If you are seriously interested in phenomena of all types then, [lease, consider one of the books listed below.

I've had no sales via this site to date, and certainly never any feedback from readers, so I guess I'll be gone a very long time.

Yes, folks, just a few of the things I've investigated are included in these books -all fully referenced and including photographs and illustrations once thought lost. Canids, in the form of foxes, I'm still studying -and learning!

The Red Paper: Foxes, Coyotes, Jackals, Arctic Foxes and Wolves in the UK

One for those interested in Wildlife -or cryptozoology!

The Red Paper:CANINES vol.1

By the 1700s the British fox was on the verge of extinction and about to follow the bear and wolf having been hunted for sport for centuries.  The answer was to import thousands of foxes per year for sport. But foxes kept dying out so jackals were tried. Some were caught, some escaped. Even wolves and coyote were released for hunting and "country folk" were very far from "happy" -some even threatening local hunts -one intending to release a wolf for a hunt- with legal and other consequences. The summation of over 40 years research by the noted naturalist and former UK police forces exotic wildlife consultant reveals the damnable lie of "pest control" hunting but also reveals the cruelty the animals were subject to and how private menageries as well as travelling shows. Private menageries, or single exotic "pets" as well as travelling shows helped provide the British and Irish countryside with some incredible events such as the 1905 "vampiric" sheep killer of Badminton, the mystery hounds of Cavan and Coyotes of Epping Forest.

The Girt Dog of Ennerdale is also dealt with in detail -was it a tiger? A Tasmania Thylacine? This book gives the exact facts and details for the first time. Up-dated 2013 edition includes a section on sarcoptic mange in foxes and treatment plus a list of wildlife sanctuaries and rescue centres in the UK.

The terror and mystery created by “Jack The Ripper” has been the subject of countless books, magazine articles as well as movies and TV documentaries. Ask anyone if they have ever heard of Jack The Ripper and it is doubtful anyone would respond with a “no idea.”  By that same token, ask people who “Spring-heeled Jack” was and you would be lucky to find anyone who had ever heard of him.  Spring-heeled Jack was the subject (loosely) of a film The Curse of the Wraydons (1946) and Dominic Keating also appeared as Spring Heeled Jack in the 2010 film Sherlock Holmes by The Asylum film company. The character has also featured in both American and British comic books and a number of books, for both children and adults.

But the fact that the Springald held the country –not just London– in a grip of terror much longer that the Ripper did is all but forgotten except for some half-truths and fanciful theories.  Now be prepared to read the full story of Spring Heeled Jack

Sadly.....

The life of a writer and book publisher isn't great.  While fakers, hoaxers and sensationalists sell books in the thousands the original, factual books featuring cases and information you won't find anywhere else don't sell a copy.

I had hoped that a blog with the numbers of visitors this one gets -I assumed everyone looking in WAS interested in these things- might at least result in some book sales. But for the last year there have been none.

This means No Sales =No Money=Bills cannot be paid and food...well.

Without the basics to keep going running a blog and being on the internet can't be justified. At the moment I am guessing this blog will see no more posts from mid to late November.  Sad but if you can't earn a living you can't spend.

To the two people who did buy copies of my book THANK YOU but it just was not enough.

This is the official "Goodbye".

"Reflective Increase In Cost" Is What Business Calls it.

For some 6 years now I have kept the cost of these books so low that I really only make pennies out of any sales.  Unbelievably, the Red Paper has sold 0 copies since published. Some Things and Some More Things have sold one copy a piece. And Pursuing The Strange And Weird -A Naturalist's Viewpoint and the Spring-heeled Jack book have not sold a single copy.

So, considering this involves decades of research and investigation that you will NOT find anywhere else and the books are hefty when it comes to pages, a decision has been made.

Better to have no sales as a proper publisher than trying to encourage people, from the 7th October 2016 the books will see a substantial increase in cover price to reflect what they are.  I make no apologies because I've heard from one person after another with the "I am going to buy this one!" etc etc etc and those people never buy.  I need to earn money.  I'm not a charity.

Now I'm operating as a proper businessman.

Mystery Globsters Don't Go Away

This piece of footage is doing the rounds.

According to The Telegraph online article by :

Mystery saggy-skinned sea creature washes up on Mexico beach

Baffling footage shows a four-metre long unidentified sea creature washed up on a beach in Acapulco, Mexico
A large unidentified sea creature was discovered washed up on a beach in Acapulco, Mexico on Wednesday.
The beast measured four meters in length and is believed to have died a short while before washing ashore.
Facebook / Civil Protection and Fire Acapulco
Footage shows a person prodding at what appears to be the being's saggy flesh.
A spokesperson for the Civil Protection and Fire in Acapulco said Mexico’s Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (PROFEPA) has been informed of the discovery.
*************************************************************************
So, "is believed to have died a short while before washing ashore" -says who? How do they know? Was the expert -if there was one which I highly doubt- a marine biologist?  Are all members of Civil Protection and Fire Acapulco trained to identify all sea creatures in case they wash ashore?
A very large heap of bovine excrement can be detected here.  See the "fibre-like" pieces of the creature?  Take a very good look and watch the video.
Anyone who has ever looked into the subject of "Globsters" ("What's a 'globster'?" -look at the photo and watch the video) will have seen this all before.  From the one found near St. Augustine, Florida, in 1896 to the Tasmanian globster of 1960 -and many, many others ever since the signs are all there. "Hairs"/"Fibre-like" strands and skin texture.

Below one of the reports about the Tasmanian globster that lay on a beach for quite a while!

___________________________________________________________________
These globsters were what was left of whales. Everything left of a dying whale would be eaten by sharks, squid, octopusses and any other fish that wanted a meal.   In fact, the dead whale is extremely valuable to sea life, more so than was once thought. For "What Happens To Whales When They Die?" check this site out:
Gasses building up could see the carcass rise and get washed ashore -it's a long process and dead whales are not "eaten out" as they float in the water.  For that reason to state  "is believed to have died a short while before washing ashore"  is not anything a marine biologist nor naturalist would state because it is a nonsense.
Don't get me wrong, I think that we need to know more about these finds and anyone who finds something "unidentified" on a beach should try to take as many photographs as well as video footage as they can. You see, despite the fakery and mis-identifications, one day a real and genuinely unidentified sea creature could turn up. We do not want to ignore those or dismiss it simply as "whale carcass"!

Zack Bagan's Tries To Strangle Himself -I'd have strangled him for nothing!

There is a UK community radio station and it has a semi regular spot on "the paranormal". It asked whether I would watch the Ghost Adventures 2016 Halloween Route 666 and discuss it with them. I was bored and said "yes" -it was a favour to someone.

Firstly, "the Number of the Beast" is not 666 and just goes to show how bad research is on the programme and elsewhere these days.

So I sat and I watched. You know I wrote the post stating that it was good the GA and Bagans were no longer pretending it was all real?  This special contained some of the worst 'research', the worst acting....I'll be polite.  It was a sack of shit.  The highlight that had me with tears rolling down my cheeks from laughter was Bagans trying to strangle himself.  Seriously, not joking -funniest thing I've seen in a long while.

And Jay -"not versed in ghost hunting and the paranormal"- now turns out to have been study "zozo", demonology and ancient rituals for "years".  And that independent photographer who was an unbiased witness on a previous show?  Jay's wife.

They make this up as they go along.

So, how did I get on with the radio spot?  I didn't.  I told them "No. If you want my honest opinion on this ****** heap of **** you are going to need a major 'bleeping' machine!"

GA and Bagans are now banned topics on this blog.  Here -watch and decide for yourself.

Chasing The Wolverine - Most Extraordinary Predator That Ever Lived - Do...

Mysterious 'ping' sound from sea floor is blamed for scaring away animals -or is it?

Map of Igloolik area
By Jimmy Thomson, CBC News Posted: Nov 02, 2016
Hunters in a remote community in Nunavut are concerned about a mysterious sound that appears to be coming from the sea floor.
The "pinging" sound, sometimes also described as a "hum" or "beep," has been heard in Fury and Hecla Strait — roughly 120 kilometres northwest of the hamlet of Igloolik — throughout the summer.
Paul Quassa, a member of the legislative assembly, says whatever the cause, it's scaring the animals away.
"That's one of the major hunting areas in the summer and winter because it's a polynya," an area of open water surrounded by ice that's abundant with sea mammals, he said.
"And this time around, this summer, there were hardly any. And this became a suspicious thing."
The noise is "emanating from the sea floor," according to remarks Quassa made last month in the Nunavut legislature.
Another area MLA, George Qulaut, said he visited the site after hearing the reports. Though he wasn't able to hear the sound — he says years of hunting have left him nearly deaf, especially to high-pitched sounds — he did notice the lack of wildlife.
"That passage is a migratory route for bowhead whales, and also bearded seals and ringed seals. There would be so many in that particular area," he told CBC News, recalling his own days of hunting there.
"This summer there was none."
Boaters aboard a private yacht passing through the area also say they heard the mysterious sound, and described it during an appearance on a community radio show upon their arrival in Igloolik. A number of people called in to say they'd also heard it.
The noise can apparently be heard through the hulls of boats. CBC News has not heard the noise and did not speak to anyone who claims to have heard it.

Theories abound

Nobody seems to know where the sound comes from, but theories — from environmental activists to mining — abound.
One theory blames Baffinland Iron Mines Corporation. The company has previously conducted sonar surveys of nearby Steensby Inlet in conjunction with its Mary River mine southwest of Pond Inlet. But the company told CBC News it is not conducting any surveys in the area, and has no equipment in the water.
Quassa says no territorial permits have been issued for work — such as construction, blasting or hydrography — in the area that could explain the noise.
He also says some of his constituents suspect the sound is being generated on purpose by Greenpeace to scare wildlife away from the rich hunting ground. The organization has a tense past with Inuit stemming from its opposition to the seal hunt in the 1970s and 1980s.
"We've heard in the past of groups like Greenpeace putting in some kinds of sonars in the seabed to get the sea mammals out of the way so Inuit won't be able to hunt them," Quassa said.
These rumours, though persistent, have never been substantiated.
"Nobody has ever seen any type of ship or anything going through that area and putting something down," Quassa said.
Greenpeace denies the assertion.
"Not only would we not do anything to harm marine life, but we very much respect the right of Inuit to hunt and would definitely not want to impact that in any way," Farrah Khan, a spokeswoman for the organization, said from Toronto.

Military investigating

The military is also aware of the noise, and says it is looking into it.
Internal correspondence between sources in the Department of National Defence, obtained by CBC News, suggest submarines were not immediately ruled out, but were also not considered a likely cause.

A spokesperson told CBC News the armed forces are investigating.
"The Department of National Defence has been informed of the strange noises emanating in the Fury and Hecla Strait area, and the Canadian Armed Forces are taking the appropriate steps to actively investigate the situation," a spokesperson wrote in a statement.
Igloolik is about 70 kilometres north of Hall Beach, an active military site that was once part of the now-defunct DEW line of radar stations.
In the meantime, Qulaut is worried about the sound's impact on game animals that have been feeding in the area for centuries. For now, the community has no answers about the sound, its origins, or what it might be doing to the animals.
"As of today, we're still working on it,"  he said.
"We don't have a single clue."
    ____________________________________________________________________
Now here is the thing. No one appears to have recorded this "ping".  You Tube is full of videos about this with all sorts of crazy claims.  Some have recordings of construction noise, atmospheric sound and even slowed down version of the "Bloop" sound recording.
Why?  No one has recorded this. That is the oddest thing. Every angle I look at leads to...another angle. Could it just be some local campaign story against anti hunt people such as Green Peace (mentioned prominently by Igloolik locals) or the local mining company -also referred to by locals?
The notion that this could be a military vehicle of some type -a sub from America or Russia is a bit dim.  The whole point of underwater surveillance and travelling is to maintain a low profile and not be trackable.
But the clincher is the report stating that none of this "ping" phenomena has been substantiated. I suspect mischief by person or persons unknown.
Might poor hunting be down to simple over hunting?

Do Pacific Islanders appear to be carrying the DNA of an unknown human species?

As I keep writing over and over, science does NOT know all but it is looking and discovering all the time and if you know anything about "early Humans" none of this should be that surprising.
    Above: Melanesian children

Pacific Islanders appear to be carrying the DNA of an unknown human species
    A third extinct human relative.

Hints of an unidentified, extinct human species have been found in the DNA of modern Melanesians - those living in a region of the South Pacific, northeast of Australia.
According to new genetic modelling, the species is unlikely to be Neanderthal or Denisovan - two ancient species that are represented in the fossil record - but could represent a third, unknown human relative that has so far eluded archaeologists.
"We’re missing a population, or we’re misunderstanding something about the relationships," Ryan Bohlender, a statistical geneticist from the University of Texas, told Tina Hesman Saey at Science News.
Bohlender and his team have been investigating the percentages of extincthominid DNA that modern humans still carry today, and say they’ve found discrepancies in previous analyses that suggest our mingling with Neanderthals and Denisovans isn’t the whole story.
It’s thought that between 100,000 and 60,000 years ago, our early ancestors migrated out of Africa, and first made contact with other hominid species living on the Eurasian landmass.
This contact left a mark on our species that can still be found today, with Europeans and Asians carrying distinct genetic variants of Neanderthal DNA in their own genomes.
And that’s not all they’ve given us.
Earlier this year, researchers investigated certain genetic variants that people of European descent inherited from Neanderthals, and found that they’re associated with several health problems, including a slightly increased risk of depression, heart attack, and a number of skin disorders.

And a separate study published earlier this month found evidence that modern genital warts - otherwise known as the human papillomavirus (HPV) - were sexually transmitted to Homo sapiens after our ancestors slept with Neanderthals and Denisovans once they left Africa.
While our relationship with Neanderthals has been widely researched, how we interacted with the Denisovans - the distant cousins of Neanderthals - is less clear.
The problem is that Neanderthals are well represented in the fossil record, with many remains having been uncovered across Europe and Asia, but all we have of the Denisovans is a lone finger bone and a couple of teeth that were found in a Siberian cave in 2008.
Using a new computer model to figure out the amount of Neanderthal and Denisovan DNA carried by modern humans, Bohlender and his colleague found that Europeans and Chinese people carry a similar amount of Neanderthal DNA: about 2.8 percent.
    Heidelbergensis -Denovians?

That result is pretty similar to previous studies have estimated that Europeans and Asians carry, on average, between 1.5 and 4 percent Neanderthal DNA.
But when they got to Denisovan DNA, things were a bit more complicated, particularly when it came to modern populations living in Melanesia - a region of the South Pacific that includes Vanuatu, the Solomon Islands, Fiji, Papua New Guinea, New Caledonia, West Papua, and the Maluku Islands.
"Europeans have no hint of Denisovan ancestry, and people in China have a tiny amount - 0.1 percent, according to Bohlender’s calculations. But 2.74 percent of the DNA in people in Papua New Guinea comes from Neanderthals.
And Bohlender estimates the amount of Denisovan DNA in Melanesians is about 1.11 percent, not the 3 to 6 percent estimated by other researchers.
While investigating the Denisovan discrepancy, Bohlender and colleagues came to the conclusion that a third group of hominids may have bred with the ancestors of Melanesians."
"Human history is a lot more complicated than we thought it was," he told her.
This find is supported by a separate study by researchers from the Natural History Museum of Denmark, who analysed DNA from 83 Aboriginal Australians and 25 locals from the Papua New Guinea highlands.
As we reported last month, this was the most comprehensive genetic study of Indigenous Australians to date, and it indicated that they are the oldest continuous civilisation on Earth, dating back more than 50,000 years ago.
But the results revealed something else - DNA that was very similar to that of the Denisovans, but distinct enough for the researchers to suggest that it could have come from a third, unidentified hominid
"Who this group is we don’t know," lead researcher Eske Willerslev told Hesman Saey.
Until we have more concrete evidence of this hypothesised third human species (some fossils would be nice), we can’t prove this, and we should point out that Bohlender's estimates have yet to be formally peer-reviewed, so they might shift with further scrutiny.
And it could be that our identification of Denisovan DNA is more ambiguous than we think, given that our only source is a finger bone and a couple of teeth.
But the evidence is mounting that our interactions with ancient humans were far more complex than we'd assumed, which shouldn't be much of a surprise, when you think about it.
Just because we don't see them in the fossil record doesn't mean they didn't exist - preserving the remains of something for tens of thousands of years isn't easy, and then someone has to be in the right place at the right time to dig them up.
Hopefully, the more we investigate the genetic make-up of our most ancient societies, the more hints we'll get of the rich and complicated history our species shared with those that didn't make it to modern times.
The results of Bohlender's analysis were presented last week at the 2016American Society of Human Genetics meeting in Canada.
