One colleague of Loeb's, Dr. Jill Tartar, said she was "pissed off" about his claims of the object possibly being an artifact from an intelligent civilization.
I think the problem was that Loeb found that if he claimed this he got TV time, newspaper and magazine interviews and a lot more -in other words the money started coming in. If hetruly and genuinely believes what he claims after all the data is in then he should not be getting any paid work in future...but if he keeps up his claims he will not go short of paid TV, conference and other work, especially if he gets into the UFO scene. Astronomers are human.

ReplyDeleteIt does smack of a funding ploy to attract money for projects.
