Follow-up to the hugely successful Some Things Strange & Sinister.

For those interested in Ufology, cryptozoology, hominology, unusual natural history, ghosts and mysteries in general.
The secret history of gorillas in the UK -before they were officially  'discovered'. The history of  the Wild men of Europe, the UK and US: something that in the 1800s become very "pop culture"  Very pop culture and totally forgotten today!
Hominology. Sasquatch and Bigfoot -is there evidence for their existence?  No sitting on the fence here -the Patterson-Gimlin film is looked at as well as other evidence.  The Author's conclusions? You might be surprised.
Giant snakes. Amazons. The Giant serpent of Carthage. The Girt Dog of Ennerdale -another big cult 'creature' amongst paranormal and cryptozoological circles. The Beast of Gevaudan -what was it and were there really descendents of the creature in the 19th century -one of which was actually brought to London?

Believe it or not more than one incident of historical crocodiles cases in the UK.  In fact, far more than even the Author had thought .

And, after more than a century of claims by 'researchers' that it no longer exists: The Silent City of Alaska and the near legendary 'lost' photograph taken of it.

This and much more. Updated with extra pages and photographs.

The Texas Bigfoot Research Conservancy Has Blood On Its Hands   117
The TBRC has now claimed to have shot and wounded Sasquatch creatures.  The Bigfoot community is up in arms that an organisation set up to research and conserve these creatures is apparently turning to the gun to “scientifically prove” the Sasquatch is real by producing a body.
On Gathering Hard evidence  122
Rather than kill a Sasquatch or any other unknown creature is there an alternative to prove they exist? The simple answer is “yes”.
The Patterson-Gimlin Film  129
Filmed in 1967, the brief footage of “Patty” was shaky and split the scientific community in two regarding its authenticity.  With the film now digitally cleaned, image steadied and modern scientific techniques used to analyse it why is it getting harder to believe it is a hoax?

First Ever UFO Photograph Or Proof Of Early Airships?  206
It is claimed to be the first ever UFO photograph and was taken on a mountain top in the United States in 1870 –the best evidence of UFOs in the past or experimental airship flights?
Two Early French Entity Cases 212
Did Masse encounter a landed flying saucer in 1965 and see two entities? And why did he vow never to reveal what happened during the encounter –taking the secret to his grave?  And what of Dewilde in 1954 –was he paralysed by a UFO while the occupants went about their business? Did his dog die because of the encounter?
End Word  221
Sasquatch DNA evidence breakthrough?  Did Justin Smeja deliberately shoot two Sasquatch creatures and will the evidence prove it?  How you can help gather information on the strange and weird.

The Bizarre Legends, Crimes And Truth About Spring Heeled Jack (2014)

The Truth About Spring-Heeled Jack
Terry Hooper-Scharf

Paperback,
53 Pages
 Dimensions (centimetres) 20.98 wide x 29.69 tall  (A4)
fully illustrated and referenced
Price: £7.00
The terror and mystery created by “Jack The Ripper” has been the subject of countless books, magazine articles as well as movies and TV documentaries. Ask anyone if they have ever heard of Jack The Ripper and it is doubtful anyone would respond with a “no idea.”

By that same token, ask people who “Spring-heeled Jack” was and you would be lucky to find anyone who had ever heard of him.

Spring-heeled Jack was the subject (loosely) of a film The Curse of the Wraydons (1946) and Dominic Keating also appeared as Spring Heeled Jack in the 2010 film Sherlock Holmes by The Asylum film company. The character has also featured in both American and British comic books and a number of books, for both children and adults.

But the fact that the Springald held the country –not just London– in a grip of terror much longer that the Ripper did is all but forgotten except for some half-truths and fanciful theories.

Now be prepared to read the full story of Spring Heeled Jack
And if any of that piqued your curiousity then, in 2016.....

Why Researchers Need To Think Twice Before Cooperating With Universities

Over the years I have supplied information and advised agricultural departments and universities as well as National Farmers Union and other bodies on "non Native fauna" -specifically felids and canids (lynx, puma, etc).

I supplied a university in the South West of England with a great deal of information on local foxes as well as material I had unearthed after decades of research that they told me they had never heard of before.  All fully referenced.  Imagine how I felt when that university used the material as its own without crediting me -and I have the correspondence.

I worked with other "academics" and one after another stole or used material without crediting me.

So, when a professor at a South Wales university set up an exotic cat project I was dubious.  But I was assured that academics "must" credit sources and that I had been treated very badly by previous associates.  I decided that I could trust this person -I had regular phone conversations with her and exchanged data.  Then it came to needing data and I lent books and documents as well as maps -all handed over and a promise that they would be returned.

Everything went well.  My name is there on papers so I thought there could be no problems -I even defended the professor when her reputation was attacked online.

Then.....nothing.  My phone messages were never returned, though I know she was present when someone took my first message.  Letters and emails -unanswered.  This meant that I was put in a very bad position as suddenly I was being told that the university, Swansea, had no such project and had never heard of me and that I should not state that I worked with the said university.

I could -badly- put up with the betrayal of trust and all the hard work I had put into assisting the project because I realised that I had been foolish in trusting an academic again.  What really hurt is that all of my original notes, maps that were handed over were gone.  I had no copies.  And, even worse, some rare and near impossible to find books (some will set you back £70 a copy now) were never returned.

So, when I was recently contacted by a mammalogist who wanted me to assist in a fox project I made it clear that I would not -and I explained why not.

It did take a very long time to get over the betrayal and, since I incorporated findings made jointly with the Exotic Cat Project into my Red Paper: Felids that project had to be scrapped.  It will never appear because a lot of the Ms notes were with the research assistant.

So, if -if- you ever get contacted to assist or work with a university make sure EVERYTHING is agreed in writing.  Academics are not to be trusted.

Possibility of Blog Closure

As this blog seems to get no reactions or comments despite the high number of views, I have decided to re-assess whether I should keep it going.

I need to make time for other things and projects like this blog that get no comments or responses seem to be a waste of time.

So, if you see no more up-dates you know why.

NBC News: Man Says A 1973 Pascagoula UFO "Alien Abduction Incident" Turn...

Until the day he died Charles Hickson never changed his story.  Calvin Parker had kept silent for 40 years and the incident affected him badly.

Please read the comments below the video for more.

Misjudging Things

As I have posted elsewhere, it seems that I may have misjudged things regarding the AE-CE IIIK data base project.

99% of UK UFO groups seem to have no real investigation or research -particularly research. The responses I've gotten, two, are rather negative and in one response I was told to trawl the internet.  Things have gotten really bad -in the 1970s-1990s there was a lot of group cooperation.  Oh well.

I am also not trying to "Re-invent the wheel" -the idea is that individuals have their own data bases and use that data for particular avenues of research.   However, one may have reports the other does not and those reports may be very useful.

As an example: I investigated the Aylen Case in the 1970s/1980s and it was only because a fellow Ufologist knew I was studying Entity/CE IIIK cases that he sent me a copy of  A Crack In The Universe by Jean-Claude Bourret.  I read the Madame X report and realised that the entity described in  it was similar to the Aylen entities -if not for that cooperation I would not know of the French case and a possible similar one I am following up from the United States.

Mutual cooperation -I sent my friend a book he had not seen and it added to data he was gathering.

I do not intend to nor mean to start saying my data base is the data base and all others should be ignored. That is egotistical arrogance and I do not really have an ego and am certainly NOT arrogant. A Spanish data base.  A French Data base.  A German data base.  Information exchange. Research.  I am not interested in being hailed as a "Great innovator" or anything else.  I am a researcher and when I make findings I will publish them and give credit to absolutely anyone who helped.

That simple.

I just want to make that clear.

I Guess I Kind Of Wasted My Life!

I just found a photograph.  It was in a file and shows me, exhausted, around 1979/1980.  I'm in a caravan in Kent where the family were staying.

I had just had two years of exhaustive investigations (a big peak in UFO sightings from 1977-1979) having covered Devon and Cornwall, South Wales, Gloucestershire, Somerset, Wiltshire, Dorset and other counties (Bristol was "Avon" back then) for the British UFO Research Association (BUFORA). I had handed all 250 plus sighting report forms and investigation reports to BUFORA for copying and had discovered that they had "misplaced" then "lost" all of them.

Oh, and UFO International had been fully infiltrated by APEN (Google "APEN") and the British Flying Saucer Bureau in Bristol had gone, as we say in Bristol, "tits up".

So, sat in a caravan I was told "smile" -this is it.

And why did I think the AOP Bureau had to be a full time project and I should withdraw from a lot of things going on in Ufology?

Guess!
