Peter Byrne 1925-2023

 From The Bigfoot Forum https://bigfootforums.com/topic/94628-peter-byrne-has-passed/

Peter was born August 22, 1925 in Dublin, Ireland. He was raised with three siblings on their family estate in Ireland. In 1943 he enlisted in the Royal Air Force and was stationed in the East Indian Ocean on the Coco’s Islands off of Australia where he served with distinction until the war ended.

When the war ended Peter became a tea planter in northeast India. After a serendipitous encounter in Bombay, he became friends with the King of Nepal’s brother and was granted property in Nepal where Peter conducted hunting safaris in the White Grass Plains of western Nepal. More details of Peter’s early days can be viewed at www.peterCbyrne.com.

In 1968, after 18 years of big game hunting, he turned to conservation in Nepal where he convinced the government to create a wildlife preserve, and eventually establish the Sukila Phanta National Park. He said, “I showed them that taking a photograph of a rhinoceros was worth 1,000 times more than shooting it once.” He also pioneered Nepal river rafting, and trekking expeditions on many of his trips to the country.

During the Nepal years, Peter also established the non-profit International Wildlife Conservation Society. In the interests of the Society, he traveled globally and through his magnetic personality, established many friends and gained honors, among them a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society and membership in the Explorers Club of New York. But, spiritually, he was forever drawn to Nepal and the Himalayas, with his last trip to Nepal thought to be in 2012.

In Nepal, Peter was sought after by Texas oil man Tom Slick.  Slick financed a two year Byrne Himalayan expedition to find the fabled yeti. After few results were found of the yeti, in 1960 Slick brought Peter to northern California and the Pacific Northwest USA to track Bigfoot. That search unfortunately ended with Slick’s sudden death in an airplane crash in 1962.

Thereafter, Peter conducted two other, long and well-funded northern Oregon Bigfoot projects. Again, with no physical evidence of Bigfoot, those projects ended in the late 1990s. Peter then moved to Los Angeles, but after never really feeling at home in the overcrowded city, he retired to a home on the banks of the Nestucca River in Pacific City, Oregon.

In Pacific City, Peter continued to write the remainder of his 20 books. He also wandered the mountains of the Coastal Range with friends in his continuing quest for sightings of Bigfoot.

Peter Cyril Byrne passed away peacefully on July 28, 2023 in Tillamook, Oregon. He is survived by his daughter Rara Byrne now living in Perth, Australia, his sister Beryl Greene of Maidenhead, England, and his life partner of more than 25 years - Cathy Griffin is now living in Pacific City, Oregon in the cabin they shared.

The largest search for the elusive Loch Ness Monster in decades will get under way later this month.

Staff from the newly revamped Loch Ness Centre at Drumnadrochit have teamed up with a group of independent and voluntary researchers, Loch Ness Exploration (LNE), to conduct the biggest surface water survey in more than 50 years.

The centre is seeking more budding Nessie hunters to get involved in the search, which is planned for August 26-27.

The search is expected to be the largest of its kind since the Loch Ness Investigation Bureau studied the loch for signs of the mythical monster in 1972.

Surveying equipment that has never been used on the loch before will be deployed to uncover the secrets of the mysterious waters.

This will include drones which will produce thermal images of the water from the air using infrared cameras, as it is believed observing heat from above could provide a crucial component for identifying any strange anomalies.

A hydrophone will also be used to detect acoustic signals under the water, listening for any Nessie-like calls, as well as other technology that could prove useful in the search.

The Loch Ness Centre and LNE are looking for volunteers to keep an eye out for any breaks in the water or any other inexplicable movements over the weekend.

Each morning, Alan McKenna from LNE will brief volunteers at the centre on what to look out for and how to record findings. There will also be a debrief in the afternoon to go through the day’s events.

The Loch Ness Centre is located at the old Drumnadrochit Hotel, where it is said manageress Aldie Mackay reported seeing a “water beast” in Loch Ness 90 years ago.

Mr McKenna said: “Since starting LNE, it’s always been our goal to record, study and analyse all manner of natural behaviour and phenomena that may be more challenging to explain.

“It’s our hope to inspire a new generation of Loch Ness enthusiasts and by joining this large-scale surface watch, you’ll have a real opportunity to personally contribute towards this fascinating mystery that has captivated so many people from around the world.”

Paul Nixon, general manager of the Loch Ness Centre, added: “We are guardians of this unique story, and as well as investing in creating an unforgettable experience for visitors, we are committed to helping continue the search and unveil the mysteries that lie underneath the waters of the famous loch.

“The weekend gives an opportunity to search the waters in a way that has never been done before, and we can’t wait to see what we find.”

The Marley Woods sightings discussed by UFO field investigator Ted Phillips -Some Comments People Will Not Like

Thomas M. Ferrario worked with Ted Phillips especially at Marley Woods and for years I tried to get access to Phillips' trace evidence and analyses. As I have related before when I did find the catalogue it included known hoaxes and information from Jacques Vallee that had been proven (through basic research) to be false.
Ted Philips discussing Marley Woods at a UFO event. After twenty years it was nothing but the same old stories with a couple of small additions.

However, I believed that there must be a better catalogue of information as well as analysis reports since Philips said there were. His whole reputation was built on his scientific research.  Also, after over two decades the work at Marley Woods that Philips pushed and gave great accounts of phenomena there...not a thing published in the way of evidence other than a fuzzy light video.
While Philips was alive I sent several emails as well as a letter to try to find out when and what evidence would be released since, after all, it would need to be peer reviewed (as Philips said he wanted).
Not a single word in response. Instead Philips seemed to become obsessed with a story about a huge alien space craft embedded in a mountain.  I asked others who knew Philips and were on good terms with him about his evidence and Marley Woods -they all said the same thing: they trusted him and he'd release "stuff" when it was time.  Marley Woods was just one in a long line of Skinwalker Ranch style locations.
So I thought I would contact Ferrario and avoid mentioning Marley (after 20 odd years there I have not seen evidence of anything but some hair samples). So I messaged him on FB:
"Hi.
"My name is Terry Hooper-Scharf and I am based in the UK. From 1977 -2007 I "Officially Unofficially" investigated UFOs Reports as Head of the Anomalous Observational Phenomena Bureau (AOP B) and from 1974 to date I have specialised in CE3K reports and run the CE3K/Alien Entity Project.
"I was hoping that you might be able to help me with a query. One thing I keep getting asked by more science orientated folk is why is there no physical evidence of UFOs. I have tried to look on the internet for any of the work carried out by Ted Phillips that lists evidence found and what tests results showed.
"To date I have failed. So can I ask if there is a data base of the evidence and test results I can access?
"I'm hoping you'll have the answer!
My thanks in advance.
Terry Hooper"

Nothing. So I waited and on the 21st September 2022 sent the message again.  Nothing. A reminder in January 2023 -nothing. In his 2022 Black Vault interview he seemed credible and straight forward but something was not right. Where was all the information and contact he promised with researchers?

Then I accidentally stumbled onto this video and ...Ferrario's credibility shot down to zero. None of this has been mentioned in his UFO podcast interviews and seems to be almost a secret that he kept from anyone but conspiracy and, in my opinion, almost cultish believers.

I guess we will never see any evidence of the promised evidence because Marley Woods was just another Skinwalker Ranch and Philips catalogue of physical trace cases appears to be non existent -after 30 years I am no longer chasing that fantasy.

Living Cavemen in Canada: Neanderthals in First Nations Tradition -Some Comments

One thing that needs to be noted is that the "primitives" and their actions basically mirrored those of the indigenous peoples.

Cree, Sioux, Iroquois or whatever tribe they were constantly raiding and at war with each other. They scalped, tortured, mutilated those they captured or killed and women and children were enslaved or killed.

Cannibalism was also practiced by some.

Therefore the accounts could be of other tribes because very little in those accounts suggests Neanderthal or unknown primitive men. In fact the stories of how indigenous warriors killed these primitives is atypical of what the primitives were said to do.
