Phenomena X –Things Strange And Sinister -Sasquatch

They are the sub-humans of Central and Eastern Asia known as the “Almas.” The proto-pigmies of Asia, Africa and South America –the “Teh-Ima,” “ Duende,” “Orang-Pendek” and the “Agogue.”  They are also the neo giants of Indochina, Asia, North and South America such as the “Dzu-teh” of the Himalayas and Tibet.

You may be mystified but three Western names for some of these creatures will probably be more familiar to you: “Yeti”, “Sasquatch” and “Bigfoot.”

The old days of calling the sightings of these creatures a misidentification of a bear or a more familiar primate such as an orang-utan under poor lighting conditions are gone.  

Naturalists, anthropologists and biologists have been drawn into the study of these reports of what are collectively known as Hominids, and those researching them Hominologists.  For over 50 years scientists  in Russia have conducted expeditions and studied reports and physical evidence concerning the Almas.  In China the Yeren has been the subject of official investigations and expeditions by scientists.  In China there are written historical accounts along with illustrations of the Yeren going back thousands of years.

But there are also early records of sightings of these creatures and their activities going back to the early settlers and explorers of both North and South America –all centuries before any “popular mythology” on Bigfoot began.  In fact, some of those early explorers went so far as to dismiss what they saw with their own eyes and one was prepared to believe he had found mammoth footprints in snow rather than believe his native guides insistence that they were tracks of a huge hairy man.

It is not only the historical accounts that hominologists have to study.  Ancient native rock art in North America has revealed images of known animals but also tall, hairy hominids.

Then there are the footprints.  Over the years various people have come forward claiming that they faked Bigfoot tracks using carved wooden templates.  These are very easy to spot because the tracks they leave have no flexibility in them. 

Today, there are anthropologists specialising in anatomy who study genuine Bigfoot track casts. The later Grover Krantz pioneered this work and D. Jeffery Meldrum, Department of Biological Sciences, Idaho State University, has taken this further. Meldrum has, probably, the largest collection of Almas, Bigfoot, Yeti and Orang-Pendek casts in the world.  Meldrum has access to digital scanning equipment that picks up fine details in casts –some unseen with the naked eye.  Fakes and misidentifications are easily dismissed.  A study of casts shows not just how the alleged Bigfoot walks (completely different to a man) but even its weight and height –it is the science used in criminal cases to secure convictions.

And genuine hominid tracks have something else.  Dermal ridges.  Take a look at your hand and you’ll notice they are covered by large and small lines and you’ll find these are also on your feet –in the US and other countries babies have their footprints taken in hospitals to positively identify them if required.  Former police latent-finger-print examiner Jimmy Chilcutt has prints from every type of primate kept in captivity so has a unique record.  Chilcutt has examined Bigfoot cast dermal ridging and states that they are not like any of the primate prints he has –they are from an unknown animal.  It needs to be noted that Chilcutt is using the same methods that get convictions of criminals in court.

The famous Patterson-Gimlin footage of a Bigfoot (known as “Patty” today) taken in 1967 is often mimicked in hoaxes or jokes.  For years I joked about it and called it a fake. It was shaky footage and not great quality. But in forty years technology has moved on.  Not only have digital image scans been taken on the location of the incident but microscopic digital photographs have been taken of each frame of the footage to reveal detail no one could ever have guessed at in 1967.  The “costume” needed could not be produced in 1967 even by Hollywood and anatomical analysis has shown a man could not have fitted into any such item. The walk has been examined and using a very tall athlete covered in sensors in a lab.  There are a lot of hoaxers claiming they wore the ‘costume’. Not only could the athlete not duplicate the walk but after the tests were concluded the experts agreed that “Patty” did not walk like a human and neither did it walk like a gorilla. 

There is also another fact that could not have been faked.  While checking the cleaned up footage it was noted that something odd appeared on the creature’s upper right leg. It turned out to be a muscle that had obviously been damaged that kept popping up during walking.  Now just how did Patterson and Gimlin fake that.

It is the only piece of film evidence that has stood the test of time and been attacked by every critic going who discovers “this” or “that” in the footage.  They all get shot down in flames.  The Patterson-Gimlin footage could well be the most important piece of wildlife footage ever.

There are the tracks, the footage and reports from the area before and after this event. Try as I might I can no longer cry “hoax” on this one.

But what are these hominids?  The general concensus of opinion is that in some cases they are an unknown primate.  In the case of the Almas and Orang-Pendek it is thought that they may be relic populations of ancient Man still living, endangered, in the wildest places on Earth.

Marble Mountain Bigfoot Footage...A Person!

If there was ever a better example of a video showing imaginations gone wild I cannot think of it. Some campers find a makeshift lean-to that is about man-size -nothing that would really cover a full-sized sasquatch. They find a 'fire-pit" where there has been no fire...???

So then someone points out a figure on the hilly horizon.  Here things get so over the top it's unbelievable. Even on the zoomed-in image you can see thyat this is a regular person with a rucksack low on the back but not to those who, without the zoom camera, see that "his" arms reach down past his knees. They do not.  Then we get:

"he's screaming at us!"  "He's jumping up and down...he is furious!"

 Some kid then suggests they "bag him. Tranq him"?? 

This looks exactly the same as the 2008 Russian 'bigfoot' footage -a person walking along.  You can see the over exaggerated claims for it being genuine here (please do not laugh too loudly):

Is incredible. It is a regular person walking along –NO JUMPING UP AND DOWN or SHAKING A FIST at the observers who must have been tiny to the person involved from his/her distance away.

 A couple of friends went camping in Provo Canyon, near Squaw Peak and Little Rock Canyon Overlook. They thought they saw a bear, until the monster stood up and looked right at them.

A Utah man camping in Provo Canyon caught sight of what he claims was a black creature in the woods on Sunday.

The hikers who captured the accompanying footage recently in Utah's Provo Canyon seemed to act appropriately: They bolted through the woods, with the camera still running, to get as far away from the creature as possible. The video’s description, named “Provo Canyon Bigfoot Encounter?” on YouTube, says the man was camping near Squaw Peak and Little Rock Canyon Overlook when they saw deer up on the hill.

Naturally, skeptics are analyzing the video in the hopes of finding an explanation. Yet even healthy cynics are pretty impressed with what they see. They note that the witnesses don't appear to be acting. If they were, the skeptics say, they'd likely be a lot more vocal, and fall into the overacting trap.They also didn't stick around to get a great shot, which also rings of a very natural reaction, but didn't help when it came to capturing a better image.

Video: Provo Canyon Bigfoot Encounter?

“We had actually been standing there for awhile. We had thought it was a bear up to that point but when it stood up and looked at us it was just massive animal,” said the video’s uploader, who goes by the name 'Beard Card' on YouTube. He did not want his real name to be made public.

Nevertheless, the shot of what clearly looks like the animal's big broad arms is extremely compelling, which is why  Max Roth of Fox 13 caught up with Beard Card to talk about the incredible encounter.
The U.S. Wildlife control says it is all fake; If it was a bear it would have charged at the hikers when they started to run. If it was a so called 'bigfoot', it would had charged them because it would have the same similarities of a killing instinct of a bear when being approached or ran from, and just the same with a gorilla when being violated or when it feels threatened.

Personally, I go for fake at the moment. There are far too many videos 'of' Bigfoot in which the videographer starts running away. In this case 'whatever' gets up and moves AWAY from the videographer who runs off. 

Look at the image below -"it" is turning and moving away. Arm proportion looks nice BUT this is yet another blurry blobsquatch.

It was MOVING AWAY and had made no hostile action or vocalisation -so why run as though it is chasing you?  Most outdoor people know that you DO NOT run from a wild animal as that makes you in "prey mode".

Sopmething stinks.

 

Aerial Search For Bigfoot?

SALMON, Idaho (Reuters) - An Idaho scientist shrugging off sceptical fellow scholars in his quest for evidence of Bigfoot has turned his sights skyward, with plans to float a blimp over the U.S. mountain West in search of the mythic, ape-like creature.

Idaho State University has approved the unusual proposal of faculty member Jeffrey Meldrum, an anatomy and anthropology professor ridiculed by some peers for past research of a being whose existence is widely disputed by mainstream science.

Now Meldrum is seeking to raise $300,000-plus in private donations to build the remote-controlled dirigible, equip it with a thermal-imaging camera and send it aloft in hopes of catching an aerial glimpse of Bigfoot, also known as sasquatch.

Meldrum, author of "Sasquatch: Legend Meets Science," said the undertaking represents a giant leap in the quest for an animal he believes may have descended from a giant ape that once inhabited Asia and crossed the Bering land bridge to North America.

"The challenge with any animal that is rare, solitary, nocturnal and far-ranging in habitat is to find them and observe them in the wild; this technology provides for that," he said.

Decades of alleged sightings, elaborate hoaxes and the discovery of huge footprints in the forests of the Pacific Northwest and elsewhere have led to beliefs that Bigfoot is a man-like ape, an ape-like man or a figment of the popular imagination.

Most scholars discount Bigfoot as a phenomenon borne of myth and perpetuated by a mix of fakery and misidentification of real animals. They contend that science demands a high standard of evidence that has not been achieved in the case of sasquatch.

No fossils or other physical evidence has been unearthed to suggest that the largest primate ever known migrated from Asia to the Americas, and no Bigfoot has been captured or killed, sceptics argue.

"There is no Bigfoot," said University of Iowa anthropologist Russell Ciochon.
Believers describe an enormous, fur-bearing figure that walks upright in the remote high country of mostly Western states.

'WELL-MANICURED' BIGFOOT?

The blimp-based search - dubbed the Falcon Project - was the brainchild of William Barnes, a Utah man who said he encountered Bigfoot in 1997 in northern California.

Barnes said he watched an immense, hairy creature that was otherwise "well-manicured" approach his tent before striding up a rocky ledge. Years later, he approached Meldrum, well known in Bigfoot circles, about his idea for an airship expedition.

Barnes and Meldrum hope the Falcon Project will take flight next spring. They envision a months-long expedition that will survey swaths of remote forest across parts of the Pacific Northwest as well as northern tiers of California and Utah.

The aerial evidence is to be dispatched to teams on the ground that would seek to trace evidence or "try to make contact," Meldrum said.

Financial support for the venture has been slow in coming, with Meldrum failing so far to raise a single dollar for the effort. But he told Reuters he was in talks with two cable channels vying for rights to produce a new weekly TV series following the Falcon Project from its inception.

Indigenous peoples from Asia to North America possess lore about colossal creatures akin to apes that live in extreme alpine environments, shun contact with humans and are variously identified as the yeti, Bigfoot, the wild man or mountain man, said William Willard, professor emeritus of cultural anthropology at Washington State University.

While powerful, those myths have no scientific validity, he said.

Wolves, Jackals & Foxes In The UK

By the 1700s the British fox was on the verge of extinction and about to follow the bear and

wolf having been hunted for sport for centuries. The answer was to import thousands of foxes per year for sport. But foxes kept dying out so jackals were tried. Some were caught, some escaped. Even wolves and coyote were released for hunting.

The summation of over 30 years research reveals the damnable lie of "pest control" hunting but also reveals the cruelty the animals were subject to and how private menageries as well as travelling shows helped provide the British and Irish countryside with some incredible events.

The Girt Dog of Ennerdale is also dealt with in detail.

Essex Lion Hunt --I Knew It Was Coming!

 After more than 30 years of acting as an exotic wildlife advisor to UK police forces and dealing with panthers, pumas, lynx and much more and having my phone ring from 0600-midnight daily, I finally gotr sense and semi-retired in 2010.  I still do get consulted unofficially by police forces but I avoid the press.

Popped out to get some cat food this morning and what do I see on the newspapers ?  "Lion sighted in Essex" and "Police hunt Essex Lion" -I turned away.  I got home and said "guess what?" the response was "A lion in Essex -the newspaper just called."

Now the TV, newspapers and radio all want my time for free.  Wonderful.  I've not looked this case up but there is a BBC TV item:

Not watched this as I'm 'retired' but I'm guessing the witness saw a large cat some distance off and used binoculars but can only describe a "very large" tan or sandy coloured cat with a light underbelly?  I'm guessing the photos one reporter mentioned to me will show bugger all.  I'll guess the police went to see the couple then went back to base and at some point an official, heavily armed search of the area took place finding...nothing.

'Lion' hunts, especially in Essex are not new. I'll say puma.  Why? because that's the cat most people see and think looks like a lioness.  I tried to adevise Essex police a few years ago not to bother with a full scale hunt or a 'hunter' as it would be wasting money.  The guy in charge later told me: "We should have taken your advice!"

By the time the patrol car got to the witness(es) home the cat was probably miles away.  By the time a search took place -in the next county!

These cats are here. Live with it.  They've never ever harmed anyone.
